Families were there with children and they seemed to get a lot out of the Tate also.

We visited for about two hours -- absorbing all we could. But that only made us want to come back another day and spend 2 more hours concentrating on a single area within the museum, then another day spent on yet another area.

If it was not for our Veterans, our country would not be what it is today. This is not your typical military museum. It is a salute to the brave men and women who put their lives on the line for our freedom. This was a very interesting place to visit. My 12 year old grandson was impressed and the tributes were inspiring.

If Things to do in casper at Wyoming, this is really a great place to see. National Historic Trails Interpretive Center is a gateway to the trails of the old west.
The goal of the museum is to educate the public on both American Western and Native American culture. One of the best museums I have ever visited. Sitting in a stage coach and watching a video that made it seem I was crossing the prairie or sitting in a covered wagon and crossing a river were just 2 of Things to do in casper spectacular exhibits. Great for all ages. The low-slung, prairie-style building is on a hill above the Plate River, which I learned was the jumping off spot for a variety of trails: The effect of these trails on the prairie Indians is a key theme.
The exhibits are interactive and draw you in. It was a mind-blower to me. As the Michelin Guide might say: History lives at Fort Caspar. Visit the reconstructed military base where you can see what it was like to live in the wild west.
The museum also showcases artifacts from the pioneers, Native Americans, and prehistoric days. A nice spot to stop. The indoor exhibits gave a nice look at Wyoming history and life. Worth the time to stop. Overall it took less than 2 hours to see. Great historical recreation of cavalry outpost hosting many buildings and all contain period furniture, uniforms, and supplies.

Very nice to educate kids about Wyoming's wildlife as well as a few animals from around the world. There was no fee and it is a great place to spend an afternoon with kids. A great surprise close to home! We live only blocks away from the Werner Wildlife Museum Things to do in casper we finally decided to spend an afternoon exploring what it had to offer.
What a great surprise it was! The lady working there was so kind and friendly and welcomed our large family and children and gave us a small talk about what the museum had to offer.
She gave us coloring sheets for the little ones and scavenger hunt papers for our older children. The animal displays are great and there is a wide variety of animals to look and learn about.
Our favorites were the brown bear that was not "brown" in color and also the albino deer. There is a basement to the museum also, so don't let the size outside fool you. The basement had a very impressive collection of birds, more mammals, and some fish displays.
The bird collection is really very large and varied and I will probably come back again someday just to look at the birds again. Share on Twitter Share on Facebook.
